The Rejection Project 518 is a collaborative, intergenerational, community-based theatre piece that explores the concept of rejection in its many forms. Based entirely in Albany County, project is sponsored in part by a NYSCA Community Arts Decentralization Grant through The Arts Center of the Capital Region and fiscally-sponsored by The Social Justice Center of Albany. They are putting out a call for written material to help sculpt this piece and need your submission! You can submit online or join them for writing workshops at the Social Justice Center on: Saturday, April 18 from 10am-2pm Saturday, April 25th from 12pm-3pm They will use these workshops as forums to collect written thoughts and responses on the topic of rejection and to more specific writing prompts. The workshops will also consist of group discussion and some group activities. They want to make sure that this theatre piece makes room for many voices and experiences. Please help us get the word out about this project so that we can create a piece that accurately showcases the incredible diversity of the greater Albany community. This could be an opportunity for people who have always wanted to act (but never had the courage to get up on stage), for people who have always wanted to write (but feel intimated by other writers), and for anyone who craves a creative outlet to work through some of the ways that they deal with rejection.
